2014 TE enjoys Vandy visits
Because of the offense his team uses at Chattanooga (Tenn.) East Hamilton, 2014 tight end Bailey Lenoir's opportunities to put up numbers in the receiving game are few and far between.
But that doesn't mean schools haven't taken notice of the 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect. At least four SEC schools have invited Lenoir to campus for unofficial visits, and he's hoping his positive momentum continues.
"We had a good year, but I'm used primarily as a blocker," he said. "I got 13 receptions, which isn't that much, but my team needs me to stay in and block. I feel like I'm better as a receiver, but you need to be able to do both at the next level."
Lenoir has taken three unofficial visits to Vanderbilt, as well as one to Tennessee and another to Ole Miss. His frequent trips to Nashville have left him impressed with the Commodores and their coaching staff.
"I just liked how they're trying to make the program better," Lenoir said. "All the facilities and the new stuff they're building and bringing in good recruits is impressive."
The highlight of his fall visits was the Vanderbilt-Tennessee game, which he said was truly an SEC atmosphere.
"There were a lot of fans; it was a packed house," Lenoir said. "I got to hear Coach Franklin give his speech before the game, and he seemed like a real great guy."
Lenoir added that another highlight of his fall campus tour was the Ole Miss campus and indoor practice facility.
Although he's yet to receive his first offer, Lenoir is hoping a busy offseason schedule of camps and combines will give him a chance to show what he can do as a receiver.
"I'm going to the Semper Fi Combine this month," he said. "I'm planning on going to a lot of camps, getting in front of coaches and just continuing to improve on my game."
