Meske and 9 Spartans lead D-II A All-state

Division II-A state champion Knoxville Webb School leads the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-state team announced today with nine players being selected for the team.
Coach David Meske was named Coach of the Year in Division II-A after leading the Spartans to a 12-1 record. It was the school's sixth state championship and third in five years.

The Spartans on the All-state offense are Robby Strachan (FB), Aaron Blance (RB), Skip Garner (OL) and Andrew Campbell (OL).
Webb School players on the All-state defense are Todd Kelly Jr. (DB), Brock Beeler (DB), Carter Thomas (DL), Bennett Harrison (LB), and Jack Grayson (P).

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Junior running back Robby Strachan ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns as the Webb School of Knoxville defeated Evangelical Christian School 47-14 in the Division II-A state championship Thursday at Tennessee Tech's Tucker Stadium.
It was the sixth state title for Webb School (11-1) and the third in four years. The Spartans improved to 4-2 against the Eagles (6-7) in the TSSAA playoffs.
Strachan, who had 18 carries, was named the game's offensive MVP, while teammate Brant Mitchell was the defensive MVP with 10 tackles - four unassisted and six assisted.
The Spartans took control of the game with three second-quarter touchdowns, including two Todd Kelly rushing scores, and led 27-0 at the half. Kelly ran for 118 yards on 13 carries.
Webb School rolled up 453 yards on 59 plays, including 406 rushing yards.
ECS quarterback Brent Rooker threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns on 23-of-29 passing.
The Tennessee Sports Writers Association released its all-state high football teams for this past season in the Division II-A and Division II-AA classifications today.
