Whitehaven has 5 on All-Classification All-State team

The 6A state champion Whitehaven Tigers lead the 2012 TNVarsity.com All-Classification All-State team with six players selected to the prestigious squad.
Leading the way is running back Mark Dodson Jr., who had his No. 7 jersey retired and received a scholarship offer from Texas this week, capped off a super career by rushing for the deciding 2-point conversion in overtime to give veteran head coach Rodney Saulsberry and Whitehaven a 36-35 state championship victory over Maryville.

Dodson's heroic effort provided 318 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns in the final high school performance of his career.
One of the reasons for Dodson's success was Whitehaven guard Vincent Hunter (6-4, 330) helping to pave the way for the high-scoring Tigers.
Whitehaven diminutive playmaker Gerald Perry, who has committed to Vanderbilt, joins Dodson on the offensive team.
The Whitehaven defense is represented by linebacker Adam Collins and defensive back Darrius Sims.
Class 3A state champion Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) checks in with four players on the super team.
The national record-breaking combo of quarterback Charlie High and receiver Davis Howell are joined on the team by Tennessee commitments Josh Smith (WR) and Brett Kendrick (OL).
The 2012 TNVarsity.com All-Classification All-State team is part of an award package that will include Class of 2013 Player of the Year, Class of 2014 Player of the Year, Class of 2015 Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Team of the Year in Tennessee.

Offense
QB - Charlie High (Christian Academy of Knoxville) set a new national completion record by completing 774 of 1,040 passes for a 74.4 completion percentage. He has career state records in completions (774), passing yards (10,978), touchdown passes (131), career touchdowns (138) and career offense (11,368 yards). His single-season state records include completions (378), attempts (496), passing yards (5,191), passing touchdowns (65), total touchdowns (69) and total offense (5,364 yards).
QB - Brent Stockstill (Siegel) passed for 3,828 yards and 43 touchdowns and rushed for 17 TDs as a two-year starter for the Stars. The son of MTSU head coach Rick Stockstill has committed to Cincinnati, but continues to receive interest from other D-1 schools.
RB - Cornelius Elder (Ensworth) The DII-AA two-time Mr. Football was the state's ninth all-time leading career rusher with 2,618 yards and 39 TDs in 2012.
RB - Jalen Hurd (Beech) boosted his team to a 15-0 record and a state championship by rushing for more than 3,300 yards and more than 40 touchdowns. The Class of 2014 running back has already received offers from top
RB - Mark Dodson Jr. (Whitehaven) rushed for 3,295 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2012 and had 318 yards rushing, 5 touchdowns and the winning 2-point conversion in overtime to give the Tigers a 36-35 victory over Maryville.
WR - Tae Martin (Siegel) produced 52 catches for 1,048 yards and scored 18 TDs. MTSU, Chattanooga and Murray have made scholarship offers.
WR - Josh Smith (Christian Academy of Knoxville) committed to Tennessee, caught 65 passes for 1,176 yards in 10 games.
WR - Davis Howell (Christian Academy of Knoxville) broke the national record for career receptions by 11 to finish with 358. Howell caught 15 passes for 172 yards and a TD in the 3A state championship game.
OL - Austin Sanders (Bradley Central) is a strong run blocker who has committed to Tennessee.
OL - Vincent Hunter (Whitehaven) is a 6-4, 330-pound guard with offers from Arkansas, Arkansas State, Memphis and Mississippi State.
OL - Brett Kendrick (Christian Academy of Knoxville) is a 6-5, 295-pound guard who committed to Tennessee before helping lead CAK to its second consecutive state 3A championship.
OL - Akeem Cooperwood (Fulton) is a giant 6-8, 335-pound 2014 lineman prospect who is still growing. He helped lead the way for Fulton to win the Class 4A state championship.
OL - Christian Morris (Memphis East) is a UCLA commit who turned in a good showing recently at US Army All America Bowl.
ATH - Gerald Perry (Whitehaven) is a Rivals.com 3-Star prospect committed to Vanderbilt. Perry used his 4.4 speed to be a playmaker for the 6A state champion Tigers.
Defense
DL - Frank Herron (Memphis Central) is a 6-4, 248-pound defensive end committed to LSU. Herron had a good performance in the US Army All America Bowl recently.
DL - Jason Carr (White Station) is a Rivals.com Top 250 player ranked as No. 7 prospect in the state. The 6-6, 280-pounder is committed to Tennessee.
DL - Brandon Walters (Howard) is a 6-8, 280-pound pass rusher who was a Mr. Football finalist. He recorded 98 tackles, 11.5 sacks and 27 tackles for loss.
LB - Adam Collins (Whitehaven) is a Rivals.com 3-Star prospect. The 5-11, 215-pound tackling machine helped lead the Whitehaven defense that produced a 2012 6A state championship.
LB - Colton Jumper (Baylor) is a Rivals.com 2-Star prospect with great pass covering skills and a high football aptitude. The 6-2, 218-pounder has four offers and is waiting on an ACC or SEC offer.
LB - Ford Howell (Memphis University School) is a Rivals.com 3-Star prospect committed to Wake Forest. Howell is a 6-2, 226-pound defender who had 72 tackles, 13 for losses, 6 QB hurries, 2 interceptions a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
LB - Marcus Robinson (Memphis East) is a speedy 6-4, 212-pound Rivals.com 3-Star prospect headed committed to Arkansas.
DB - Darrius Sims (Whitehaven) is another Rivals.com 3-Star prospect. Sims used his 4.5 speed and cover skills to help lead Whitehaven to a 6A state championship. He committed to Vanderbilt last summer.
DB - Devon Jones (Lake County) is a 6-3, 195-pound defender who committed to Arkansas State but is still getting attention from others colleges. He was the District 14A Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.
DB - Malik Foreman (Dobyns-Bennett) is a Rivals.com 3-Star athlete with 4.4 speed, who recently decommitted from Vanderbilt to commit to Tennessee. Foreman had almost 2,000 yards total offense in nine games as a QB in 2012 and picked off six passes to lead the Indians to a 12-1 season.
DB - Todd Kelly Jr. (Knoxville Webb) is a Class of 2014 Rivals.com 4-Star prospect with too many offers to list. The 6-1, 198-pound two-way star RB/DB rushed for 1,114 yards (12.5-yard average) and made 62 tackles for the D-II A state champions.
DB- Jalen Ramsey (Brentwood Academy) is verbally committed to Southern California, but still has visits to take and is being heavily recruited. The Rivals.com 4-Star prospect recently competed in the US Army All American Bowl and is the No. 15 ranked overall prospect in the nation as a lockdown cornerback. He recorded 43 tackles and 3 interceptions in 2012.
ATH - Jalen Reeves-Maybin (Clarksville Northeast) is a 6-1, 205-pound Rivals.com 4-Star athlete is committed to Tennessee where he could play as a Wildcat package running back, outside linebacker or defensive back. The Rivals 250 prospect, who received more than a dozen D-1 offers, is expected to enroll at Tennessee this month.
Kicker/Punter - Jonathan King (Farragut) was named the 2012 Tennessee Mr. Football Kicker and recently was named the 2012 Ray Guy Prokicker.com Player of the Year. The 6-1, 175-pound punter/kicker had a career total of 16 of 22 field goals, 66 of 68 extra points and scored 114 points. He has received a scholarship offer from the Air Force.
